Last Sunday, the Shara Community Gardens buzzed with festive cheer as the local community came together for our third annual Xmas in the Gardens event. With the summer sun shining, the herbal iced tea stall was a hit, keeping everyone refreshed throughout the evening.
Live music by the much-loved Phil & Tilley set the perfect atmosphere, blending mellow tunes with the joyful hum of friends and neighbours meeting and reconnecting. The kids, brimming with excitement, darted through the Gardens on a scavenger hunt, solving clues and uncovering hidden treasures.
An early visit from Santa delighted children and parents alike with holiday wishes and photo opportunities. We were also thrilled to launch our upcycled t-shirt stall, featuring hand-screen-printed in SGB. Each shirt is a unique creation and proved to be the perfect gift for locals and visitors.
The Fastest Runner on Clifford Street foot race brought a burst of energy to the day, as adventurous participants dashed to the finish line cheered on by the crowd. Meanwhile, plant lovers enjoyed browsing the Gardens’ herb and plant sales, taking home greenery to brighten up their spaces for the holidays.
This year’s Xmas in the Gardens was more than just an event—it was a celebration of community spirit, sustainability, and the joy of coming together. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a memorable day, as well as to Byron Shire Council for their support of this event.
